On the morning of the 13th of September, 2019, celebrating the Great Šilinės festivities and commemorating the Day of the Sick, a newly installed Chapel of Lights has opened its doors. It was solemnly consecrated by Bishop Algirdas Jurevičius.
As we hurry through life, this chapel calls us to stop and take a moment. To come in and spend a couple of minutes looking at the icon of the Face of Jesus, to look at our lives through his eyes.
The chapel is set up in almost the same place as Virgin Mary appeared, behind the Chapel of the Apparition.
Mary, when appeared here, was struck with sadness, that in the place where the Son of God was worshiped, now it is plowed and sowed. Answering her sadness we call to give our lives to Jesus, to kneel in prayer by the Apparition stone, and to leave a lit candle as a symbol of our burning hearts full of trust here, in the Chapel of Lights.
After lighting the candle, prayers with your intention will be held:
– every day at 15:00 during the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy
– the first Friday of the month at 12:00 during the Holy Mass.
An intention candle can be purchased in the Pilgrim Information Centre (M. Jurgaičio str. 17)
For your own safety and order in the Chapel of Lights, only use intention candles purchased in Šiluva.
